Guangzhou Zhongshan Avenue BRT Project

Project Description:

Guangzhou Zhongshan Avenue BRT Project is located in an east-west direction, through the busiest downtown area of Guangzhou, a total length of 22.9 kilometers, with 26 stations. The project has built 23 new Bridges, 3 pedestrian tunnels, 2 connecting channels with the subway, and 50 bicycle parking areas; New intelligent transportation, ticketing, security gate three operating systems, and synchronously improve the construction of underground integrated pipeline network.The Zhongshan Avenue BRT system is the busiest BRT system in Asia, with 989 vehicles and an average of one vehicle every 10 seconds during peak times, carrying more than 850,000 trips per day, accounting for about 1/10 of the city's total bus traffic.


Design Highlights:

1. pioneered the "dedicated corridor + flexible line" BRT system operation model

2. First to propose the integration of multiple transportation modes, realizing the physical integration of BRT and metro station halls.

3. The first station construction technology oriented to passenger flow service and centered on operation efficiency.

4. Innovatively proposed standardization, modularization, industrialization and assembly of BRT design and construction.

5. Developed BRT station inductive automatic retractable steps, seamlessly connecting with oncoming traffic.
